I LOVE St. Joseph School! The faculty and staff are very caring and foster a family atmosphere for the students. St. Joe provides a well rounded education with excellent academics, spiritual enrichment, sports and many leadership opportunities for the older students. Catholic values are emphasized and taught on a daily basis. Three of my children recently graduated from St. Joe with a love of learning and a love of reading. The school did a wonderful job preparing them for middle school. I love St. Joe!
We have had a wonderful experience at St. Joe. This school is not just a school, it is family. They are setting our children up to succeed in the future. My oldest is in all honors classes in the middle school, which shows St. Joe did a great job preparing him. The teachers and principal are supportive and driven to make our children's education top priority, while instilling morals, values, and faith along the way. The classes are small, so there is more individual attention if needed. There is nowhere else I would send my children. Faith, education, and family all in one!
The teachers and staff at St. Joseph Catholic School give our son the care and guidance that he needs to grow intellectually, spiritually and confidently. Our son requires extra attention and instruction and his teachers meet his needs while keeping us informed about his progress. Because we maintain weekly, sometimes daily communication with the teachers, my husband and I can work with and guide our son through a successful school year. St. Joe gives us the personal attention that we are looking for. We are extremely pleased with the St. Joe experience.
This once great institution has undergone a major change in the administration which has been a failed experiment for the past 2 years and has failed my children. I am now paying for tutoring and practically having to home school them. Such a shame...

I was forced to remove my youngest after having been there from preschool through 3rd grade due to the inability of this school to educate her, she currently has an "A" average and is having a wonderful experience at Hendricks (thanks to Sylvan Learning Center, Summer Bridge workbooks and the amazing principal and staff). My older daughter attended from preschool through 5th grade, she spent her last two weeks there helping move desks and clean classrooms or watching movies while Hendricks students were working hard to be ready to transition into middle school.
My advice to any parent would be to send your child to their pre-school program (it's wonderful) followed by public school here in Shelbyville. Your money would be far better spent on tutoring from Sylvan if necessary. It's sad to lose the religious aspect of the school but my child's education is paramount, religion can come from home and church.
